Google Chrome Launches
It’s been some time since the rumor of Google’s entry into the browser arena became something more. Since early this year, there’s been talk of a forthcoming Google Browser. Now it’s here and it’s called Google Chrome. It’s an open source browser project that includes:
- a built in Java virtual machine (lightning fast)
- tabbed browsing, though not like Firefox
- autocomplete in the address bar
- an Opera-style speed dial for your favorite sites
- private browsing
- anti malware protection
- built in web app use
- easy bookmarking
- import bookmarks from Firefox and Internet Explorer
- crash protection (each tab runs as a separate process)
Find out more about the hows and whys of Google Chrome in this comic book narrative of the process or download it here to test it out (Windows only at the moment, but versions for Mac and Linux will follow). TechGerm has already downloaded it, so watch this space for a user review in the next week or two. We’d love to hear your comments if you have already tried it out.

It surely deserves a try. Its very fast and a bit different. But not yet ready for the default browser, because it lacks many features of Firefox like spell checking, but i suppose that plugins will appear soon (unless they make Chrome capable to use firefox’s plugins)

I think making it support FF plugins would be an excellent move. I’ve been using it more today and there are a few things I miss from Firefox.
